Boarding Air Asia Philippines for the first time! :)
CRK - Clarkfield, Pampanga (Angeles)
DVO - Davao
Air Asia / PQ - Air Asia Philippines
It was our first time to travel out of town by not passing Manila airport. We were also excited since we tried to avail the zero fares of Air Asia Philippines and we booked it last March 2012 for only PHP350, including taxes and surcharges. However, our initial challenge was to be at Clark International Airport at 8AM.
We were group of 8 and we met at Victory Liner Cubao Terminal at 6AM. We took a bus that arrived at Dau Bus Terminal an hour later. Bus fare costed PHP139 which was a good deal since it was aircondition. We took a little walk from the bus terminal and took an airport shuttle aircon jeepney located right beside the bus terminal that costed PHP100 per passenger. Travel time from Dau to Clark Airport was less than 30 minutes. Total fare going to Clark Airport: PHP239 which not bad as compared to take a taxi going NAIA / Manila airport terminals.
Clark International Airport was a great alternative travel option from Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA). The first thing that you will notice was the crowd which is definitely lesser than NAIA. We arrived at the airport and we were able to do our self check-in since Air Asia promotes a check-in kiosk and those check counters are only dedicated to passengers who have checked-in baggage.

Tip: Since Air Asia promotes less baggage, it is advisable to do self check-in. Umbrellas are not allowed as hand carry baggage so the airport security will not allow you to bring umbrellas. It will confiscate right there and then. Another thing is, make sure to print your itinerary tickets since doing a self check-in requires a booking number (6 digit number) in order to for you to print your boarding passes. Another option is doing an online check-in at their website, www.airasia.com and follow instructions there. Check-in in Air Asia is very simple and easy to use. :)

Another thing about traveling via Clark Airport is the cost of terminal fee. If NAIA costs PHP200, Clark Airport costs only PHP150. PHP50 savings is still important nowadays especially if you are traveling on a budget. After paying the terminal fee, we headed to the final security check-in. International passengers will be headed to immigration counters while us which we bounded to Davao, headed straight to final security check. Pre-departure area was quite small and separated domestic and international flights.

It was a great traveling experience with Air Asia. It was our first ride to a relatively new airline company and it was such as wonderful experience. From check-in which was done through a kiosk, boarding the aircraft (it was very new), riding (smooth take off and landing) and the accommodating flight crews onboard. It was a great to fly again with Air Asia Philippines. With the ultra low fares and services were not compromise, I'm sure more flight experiences with them in the future. :)
Thank you Air Asia Philippines! :)
