Let's go Wakeboarding in CWC! :)

After Albay, we went to Camarines Sur on the second day of our Bicol invasion. We rode a rented jeepney and it took almost two hours until we reached our first destination. We were also amazed on the scenery of the province until we reached the town of Pili, the capital of Camarines Sur.

First Stop: Camarines Sur Watersports Complex (CWC)

Camsur Watersports Complex or Camarines Sur Watersports Complex is a watersports park designed for wakeboarding, wakeskating and waterskiing. It is located within the Provincial Capitol Complex, Cadlan, Pili, Camarines Sur. (source: CWC Website)

It is a world-class facility and many of guests were foreigners who were avid fan of extreme sports. We thought that there was an entrance fee to get there, but it was free! Who have thought that this is a private own watersports complex? It is a government funded facility built by no less than Governor L-Rey Villafuerte, who is also a watersports enthusiast. No wonder that many tourists flocked to Camarines Sur and became one of highest tourist arrivals in the country. We wanted to try using the facility but hey, we are not equipped to use it particularly on wakeboarding. So all we have to do is to watch and take some photos like these:

Arrived from 2-hour road trip from Albay!

Full of activities here!

It's still part of CWC and just across the complex where you find some other watersports activity. There was an obstacle relay and we have fun watching the event. More photos here:

Next Stop: Peñafrancia Basilica

After visiting leisure, we went to faith and we proceed to Naga City and visited Peñafrancia Basilica. The Peñafrancia Basilica Minore is located on the outskirts of Naga City in the Bicol Region of the Philippines. The Image of Our Lady of Peñafrancia is enshrined in her sanctuary at the Basilica Minore, Balatas Road Naga City.

The Peñafrancia Basilica Minore houses an image of the virgin Mary that was sculpted in 1710. It was commissioned by Miguel de Cobarrubias who moved to the Philippines from Spain with his family and believed that the virgin Mary had helped him numerous times in his life. The image was housed in a small chapel until the Basilica Minore was built constructed. (source: History of Peñafrancia Basilica)

Once we arrived to this place, we were amazed the solemnity of the basilica. We also saw how the people expressed their faith to INA (mother). We initially prayed inside the basilica thanking that we arrived safely and bless us on our trip. After that, we took some photos inside and outside of the basilica.

Next Stop: SM City Naga

During that time, this mall was newly built and many people in the city flock to this mall to shop, dine and have fun. Naga is really progressive and you saw how people used their money wisely. I only took shots of the exterior of the mall. As we went inside, it was only two story mall but full of shops. We also bought some pasalubongs such as pili nuts, candies and tarts. We were in a hurry by that time since we will back to Legazpi City by 7PM.

huge mall

This was opened last May 2009. Mall was only one month by that time.

We went back to Legazpi and spent another two hours road trip. We passed Iriga City, Baao, Bula and Nabua towns and then we reached Legazpi city by night. Our travel to Camarines Sur was short but memorable. We did not visit some other attractions in Naga and the world famous Caramoan since it was very far from Naga. But still, I am not closing any doors and it will still part of my dream places to visit in the future.

Stay tune on Part Four of our Bicol Invasion! :)
