Info Post
At Ifugao House, Tam-Awan Village

I had to admit, this is my first time to visit this village. I have been to Baguio for several times and it was my first visit to this area. We went to this place about two years ago with my friends at work. Actually, this was part of the itinerary and I looked forward to visit this place. Tam-Awan Village found in the northeastern part of Baguio City. This was open to the public in 1998 and attracted my visitors particularly those who love art and nature. Art because there were many galleries of paintings and designs inside.

The main entrance

We paid PHP50 entrance fee (PHP20 for kids 12 years old and below) and we immediately went up to the village and saw different houses: Kalinga and Ifugao huts. You will feel like that you are in a tribe and it was explained the reason why these huts were built and the purposes of its structures. We checked the different huts and went inside the house.

This place was interesting because of the structure and the scenery inside. Actually, I was interested on the houses and the art galleries since it showcased the Ifugao craftsmanship and presented their skills when it comes to art.

It was great to see the different views and learn from the cultures of our brothers and sisters in Cordillera Administrative Region. What makes it meaningful is that we experienced it upclose on how they live by these traditions they grew up and passed it from generation to generation. It is a worth visit. :)

How to get there:

By car -- from Burnham Park: Harrison Road-Abanao Road-Naguilian Road. From Naguilian, turn right to Quezon Hill Road 2, which connects to Tacay Road. On Tacay Road, keep going straught till you reach a fork on the road, Take the road on the left and keep going until you reach Tam-Awan Village.

By taxi cab -- just tell the driver take you to Tam-awan Village, Pinsao Proper. All cabbies know where this visitor attraction is located.
