Pangasinan Trip for a Day: Manaoag, Dagupan & Lingayen

Pangasinan Provincial Capitol

Pangasinan is my mother's home province. Visiting to this province is a great way of having a vacation. But this time, our team went to 3 areas in the province: Manaoag, Dagupan and Lingayen. Using my agent's van, we traveled more than 4 hours to these places: Manaoag, for visiting the Shrine of Our Lady of Manaoag. Dagupan City, for our lunch at Matutina's Restaurant and Lingayen, for visiting the capitol and the beach. The first 2 locations were already featured in previous blog. First Stop: Manaoag, Pangasinan

The main purpose of our trip was visiting the Shrine of Our Lady of Manaoag. Since some of them were first timers, a visit to the shrine was worth fulfilling to them since they saw how Pangasinenses expressed their strong faith. Actually, some other provinces went to the shrine to pray and heard mass. You will feel the solemnity of the area. Though there were many people inside and outside the church, you will not feel any disturbance.

Second Stop: Dagupan City

We headed to Dagupan City for our lunch. The usual place but remained my top restaurant in Pangasinan was Matutina's. I loved this place and also their food. The group also loved it especially the Bangus Sisig and Boneless Bonuan Bangus. They loved to eat here. I told them that this place was already featured in magazines and television. It was also a favorite dining place of former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.

Next Stop: Lingayen, Pangasinan

This place was not featured on previous blog and we decided to visit this capital town. Lingayen is the Bagoong (fish paste) capital of Pangasinan. There was a market dedicated for bagoong only. It was a boom town but much lesser than Dagupan City. We visited two areas:  Lingayen Gulf and Pangasinan Capitol Building. It was a historical landmarks during World War 2. It was also a site of landing of General Douglas McArthur which is similar to Leyte Landing. It was so hot because of the scorching heat of the sun but nevertheless, we enjoyed it! :)

The trip was more on cultural and historical side. It was great one day trip to Pangasinan. Travel time was longer since we went to other places such as the cousin of one of the team members. It was a great pleasure to visit those places.
